What does IBM do for Sustainability?



 
With this post we open a series of texts to introduce our speakers.

Please meet Henrik Dalin, smarter planet evangelist. In his lecture, he will talk about how IBM works with clients to make our planet a Smarter Planet - Sustainable world using technology.


According to Henrik, Corporate social responsibility (CSR) is something that many IBMers see as a normal part of his/her daily work. The speaker will show examples of projects that are all based on volunteer work by IBMers and projects where IBM has worked with clients to make their business smarter incl. running a city as one example.

IBM is a global technology and innovation company headquartered in Armonk, NY. It is the largest technology and consulting employer in the world, with approximately 427,000 employees serving clients in 170 countries.

As part of its outstanding Research and Development profile, IBM works with organizations and governments to buid systems that improve traffic congestion, availability of clean water, and the health and safety of populations. It also has community involvement in specific social issues, including environmental, social, economic development, education, health, literacy, language and culture
